Cambridge Inn & Suites Freeport

We liked it. It was clean and newly updated. The beds are soft which is great for me but not so much for my husband. The employees (family) where very accommodating. Very nice people. I would have given it five stars but there was an altercation in the parking lot and the police had to come. Also the pool should be open to 11pm/ 10 is too early to shut down.

1st visit: The stay was pleasant overall. It was nice to have a minifridge and microwave. The room was clean and cheerful. My only complaints are the shower came on immediately with no way switch to the spout, and the parking lot is small. 2nd visit: (One year later) It was basically the same, but the toilet seat was loose to the point of almost sliding off, and for some reason, the floor never dried out. When I got there it was damp, and I figured the cleaning staff had just finished, but the floor was moist from check-in to check-out. Aside from feeling gross, I could see falling down during a late night trip to the bathroom. I adjusted my rating to reflect this experience.

The general stay was great compared to others. The fridge didn’t work upon entry but they replaced it next day as well as the microwave so that was great. It seemed like the room was being renovated and almost finished but they just didn’t clean it properly before use. Floors were really dusty. Shower was the greatest let down because it looked really bad and old and everything else looked updated. There was no coffee pot,hair dryer or ironing board but not sure it was supposed to come with one. That didn’t bother me much though. Housekeeping was a bit annoying at times since I didn’t have a Do not Disturb sign. Other then that it was much greater than my expectations for a motel 6.

I reserved this room online days before my stay. I chose a NON smoking room with a king sized bed. When I got to the hotel, my key was ready in the lobby. I opened the door and it smelled like someone was smoking into there 2 minutes before I got there. There were cigarette burns in the tub. Also, there were 2 queen sized beds, not a king. I went back to the lobby and the lady did not have any empathy. I was stuck in this smelly room. I called the manager 2 days later and he said he would refund me the money which was nice. Room 121 is a smoking room! Smells disgusting.

The room was good, everything was quite descent and even quiet at night. If the hotel wants to improve their service, they could, for example, inform their cleaning team on the guest's check-out times - if people are expected to check-out on a given day, their room does not need to be cleaned before they leave, so it is not necessary to try to break in or to knock on their door starting at 7 a.m.
