Cable Nature Lodge & Lounge

Had a great time! Nice, quiet and serene place to stay. The recent negative reviews are hogwash! It takes time after a big purchase to buy and improve things at a resort or any business. The new owner has made awesome improvements, new Woolrich quilts, sheets, luxury towels etc. our room was clean and quiet. Keurig coffee makers in our room with plates, silverware etc. very nice place! We dined at several different local places while we were there and heard that “workers “ were hard to find just like all over the U.S. If your thinking of staying at this north woods gem, do it! You won’t be disappointed.

My first stay at Cable Nature Lodge was in July 2016 on my way to Houghton, MI for a Michigan Tech reunion with my college classmates. I was VERY impressed with the quaint lodging in the National Forest, enjoyed an awesome meal in the restaurant, and enjoyed some live music out on the patio the evening of my arrival. ||Because of the great experience I had during my first stay, I recently returned on July 31, 2022 for a one night stay to attend a Brandi Carlile concert at is a the Bigtop concert venue in Bayfield. It’s an easy 1 hr drive to the Bigtop so it was a perfect place for me to stay. ||I was sad to learn on the website that the restaurant and bar were no longer in service. The food was so spectacular during my first visit I still remember that meal 6 years later. Consequently,

Really nice place to stay! Rooms are clean and have great amenities. The staff was very welcoming. The one down side is that the walls were very thin and could easily hear people in other rooms. This wasn't a problem for us though because no one was making noise at night.

I booked this room in April for a 4 night stay early August. The website showed how beautiful the gardens were and I thought we would be able to sit outside and eat from the restaurant on site. It looked amazing. When we got there, we found out that it changed hands 2 weeks prior to our arrival. There was no restaurant and the grounds looked like the place was abandon. The inn keeper took us to our room and told us if there was anything we needed, let her know. Well, we only saw her once the entire time we were there. We had one set of towel for each of us for the whole stay and only 4 pods of coffee. They had two weeks to contact us and let us know what was going on so we could have prepared ourselves for this. We were charged full price and the full weekend rate yet didn't get half of wh

When we booked we thought we were getting everything the website says. We thought there would be beautiful gardens, a restaurant on site and people taking care of everything. We found out that it changed hands two weeks before we arrived, and the restaurant wasn't open and wasn't going to open any time soon. We had one set of towels for each of us for a 4 night stay.
