Boyd’s Adventure Center is a hidden gem! It’s a great little off-road park with trails that are a blast to explore. (Even for a stock 4x4) The onsite restaurant is a big bonus!!Plenty of tasty food and a great atmosphere. Campsites were reasonably priced with lots of options, and the whole place is super well set up. One of the coolest features is the onsite airport for STOL planes and events, such a unique touch! The views all around are absolutely spectacular, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for a weekend adventure or a longer stay!
I camp here frequently and I have always enjoyed my stay. They have very interesting events throughout the year, the aviation events are one of my favorites. They have a store a restaurant as well as a place to shower and do your business. Never any issues with people which is great. It's private property so that helps. If you want a place to hang out and just enjoy a campout amongst like minded people I think you'll have a good time.
Went here a few times and the food was good. Loved the ambiance and everything. There's even the river very close and you can sit outside and listen to it. On my most recent visit the food was a complete letdown. Anything fried tasted like it came out of old grease and everything else was very sloppily thrown together. This is after we had to wait for the waitress to stand up out of the chairs she was sitting in. No one got a refill the entire time and the bad experience just wasn't expected. For four adults and two kids. The meal was almost $200. All of us left more than half on our plates. We discussed going to the Oark general store when we left.
We love camping at Byrd's in the Fall (and spring). The camp sites are pretty primitive but most have 30A power. The bathhouse is a lifesaver for a warm shower (and the hot water never seems to end). The store/office has a good stock of stuff you might need and the restaurant is pretty good for being so isolated (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). WiFi was recently added and it actually works pretty well in most areas. They host a lot of different events (rock-crawling, bicycling, flying, etc.) and have a ton of trails for ATVs. There are a couple of landing strips and a few spots for helis, so it's cool to see all the aviation activity, regardless of events. If you're after a quiet weekend camping trip, be sure to ask before you book because this place can get crowded. We've been there countl
Everything was great except the water, the water coming out of the hookup for our RV site was dark brown to reddish... Byrdfest is a great music festival to bring the whole family to. We all love this place the only thing was the water really.
