Buffalo lodge

Been driving past here for years and always just noticed the building, but never realized it was a restaurant. I didn't realize the wife was hungry when we stopped for gas in Dillon, but once back on I15 i realized we needed to stop and The Buffalo popped up on the GPS. What an unexpected surprise. genuine Montana Hospitality and Great Food. Kelsie greeted us as we walked in late afternoon on a Sunday and immediately was fun and provided great banter. I've been looking for the perfect Chicken fried steak, and this just may be as close as I've had. Nice peppery white gravy, tender steak with breading nicely seasoned. Nice place, never realized it was there until recently after 20 years coming to the area. Friendly attentive server, nice decor with enviable game mounts on the wall in the sit down section. Beautiful views of the reservoir and mountains ringing it. Extensive menu with prime rib on Fri, Sat, Sun, along with prawns, surf and turf combos, burgers, steaks, fish. Good beer, wine, cocktails. Petite prime rib, prawns combo was awesome. Very tender, juicy, tasty, with minimal herb and salt seasoning if at all. The meat stood on its own with a little salt to taste for me and the a jus was not the offputting over seasoned beef broth posing as coming from the meat itself that other places offer. 5 stars is a low end score, it should be a 7 or 8, Absolutely outstanding. Massive burger that's cooked perfectly, delicious homemade fries, great view and excellent service. The amazing woman that waited on us was absolutely hustling and pretty sure she was the only server in a packed house. I rarely write reviews but I'll me making the drive regularly. I thought the place had been closed or else I'd have been coming down a long time ago.

Great food with a great view. Prices were unbelievably great. The horseradish with the prime rib definitely had some kick to it.
