I was at your place in June with my brother-in-law and my buddy from Michigan because I lost the leader from my rod while fishing. The young lady and her lovely little daughter really helped me, so that I didn't have to buy a completely new rod. When I'm back in Dillon, I'll definitely be back!

My dad and I have been making annual trips to Dillon, MT to fish with Backcountry Angler, and each adventure is better than the last. Proprietors Andy Bennett, his wonderful wife Chelsey and beautiful daughters outdo themselves every time and run a fantastic fly shop, very knowledgeable and effective guide service and experienced outfitter. There is great attention to detail and to ensuring an amazing experience every time - in a relaxed, fun, light-hearted and congenial atmosphere. We always learn a lot and come away ready for more. We've fished everywhere, and with many many people over the years. Andy Bennett and Backcountry Angler are in a class all by themselves. After each visit, my dad and I call it the trip of a lifetime - and each year we come back to do it all again!

Another great trip with Backcountry Angler! Guide Andy Bennett put us onto the fish over 4 days of floats on the Big Hole and the Beverhead Rivers. Andy's experience paid off by showing us the best spots to cast and was happy to row us upstream to hit the "hot" runs several times. He also stopped at good wade fishing locations so we could try our hand at catching multiple big trout from the deep drop-offs. Andy is positive, funny, and extremely knowledge about fly selection given different river flow rates and weather conditions. We stayed in one of the apartments behind the fly shop. It was clean, comfortable, and stocked with adequate dishes, cookware and a new gas grill to have a "home cooked" steak dinner after a great days on the rivers.

Fished the Big Hole river with my brother-in-law on 8/27/23 - I was a first-timer, and it was his second fly fishing trip. We spent about 6 hours on the water and caught a total of 17 fish between us, which was exactly what we were hoping to do! Our guide was JD, and he made the trip exceptional. JD was super patient with us "newbies," teaching us basic casting technique, how to mend after the cast (very important!), and putting us on the fish! I highly recommend Backcountry Angler for your guided fly fishing trip in Dillon. Even though I caught a few less fish than my "opponent," I did manage to get the biggest one...

I have been fishing with Tom for more than 20 years once or twice a year. Began fishing with Tom when he was guiding in West Yellowstone. There is a good reason I keep coming back year after year. The fishing always meets or exceeds my expectations and the experience is always top notch. Tom and Mary are always most interested in making the trip as good as it can be, both with their excellent accommodations and fishing experience. I have never been disappointed and plan to keep coming as long as I am able. It is well worth the trip from Michigan. I consider them good friends after all of these years. I would highly recommend fishing at Backcountry Angler. You will not be disappointed.
