Budget Inn Herkimer

This one of those places you'd drive by and say...not stayin' there. The rooms are actually nice. Small and under-appointed, but better than some $100/night ones we've stayed in. It's what you don't get that may offset the cheap ($80) rate. There's no ice machine, no cups in the rooms, no coffee maker, no closet, no hand soap. one little packet of shampoo/conditioner. The queen beds are really large twins. The ARE good mattresses. The floors are tile which I prefer over the nasty carpets we have seen in a lot of our stays. The busy street is literally 3' from the room windows. There's train tracks close by. The parking lot only holds 7 cars but they have 14 rooms. That math doesn't work. If it's the only place available....it might work for you.

This hotel was clean, but let's face it, no one should recommend it unless it's to their sworn enemy. We booked it online and when we arrived were told they sold our queen room and charged us more to stay in a king, which was by no means cheap for the product offered!! We wanted to leave but there was so much confusion around the charge that we finally just stayed. When we got to our room it was a concrete box with a dated bathroom & giant window that looked out into the traffic. After watching TV (they got cable) for a few minutes we passed out from exhaustion from our trip, only to awaken every few hours when the train went by honking its horn loudly and waking us. The woman is very kind and patient. Im at one of my lowest points in life but she has shown me nothing but respect. Room is clean and staff is very kind and honorable thank you

I was bicycling through on the Erie Canalway Trail. I was hot and a bit miserable and I just wanted a room. Any room. Red Roof was booked so I came here. It looks really bad from the outside and is pretty bad when you walk in too. The lady at the desk was very nice though and it only costs $75. I went up the stairs and it was 90° in the hallway and didn't smell great either. It's all concrete block walls. However, the room was totally fine. Thankfully NO carpeting just new clean linoleum. Very basic very small room but it was clean. Very hot water and high pressure in shower. The AC unit looked pretty new and it cooled it right down like a meat locker. For a tired sweaty worn out bicyclist this place was just fine. Joe's Pizza is right next door and it's GREAT.

There's an old adage that definitely applies here... "Don't judge a book by it's cover!" Great location right off the NYS Throughway... Albeit RIGHT ON THE ROAD... Fast friendly service, and shocking nice (small) rooms! Excellent!
