Boulder Lodge

A friend and I stayed overnight at the Boulder Lodge in June Lake, Ca in late Sept following a weeklong backpacking trip. We were looking forward to a warm room, hot shower and comfortable night's sleep in a real bed. Upon arrival it was obvious that there was a large amount of "deferred maintenance" on the facility. It looked very old and weathered. One of the concrete stairways to the upper rooms had collapsed and was taped off. This situation appeared to have been there for quite a while with no effort made at repair. The inside of our room was no different; deferred maintenance and poor functionality of appliances. We needed a room for the night since the hotel we thought we had couldn't find us. Seemed to maybe a busy weekend in Oct. I am not going to call this place a dump but it is in need of maintenance and renovation. Very old and tired. The room was $193. No AC but there was a fan that you had to try and talk over. Very dirty. The bed was ok and bedding seemed cleaned. Great view of the lake. Lady that check us in was super friendly. Free popcorn. Office not open until 9am. It is a property that just needs help. And the price is so high for what it is. Coffee maker needed wiped down.

This past weekend my son and I stayed in one of their 'apartments ' (room 282 ?), which had lake view, and was adjacent to the lobby, at parking lot level. Nice view I'll say, but that's the only 'positive' to speak of. Look at the photos for a first impression, and bounce that off paying $213/night (taxes included). We needed a suite, because we wanted to cook our own food. The place (an 'apartment') was literally falling apart: -In places the floor, in particular the bathroom and kitchen/living/dining room, was slightly slanted due to a subsiding subfloor (I'm guessing). -The couch bed, which my son was going to sleep on, had dirty sheets, with human hair on it, and a blanket with crusted stains of god-knows-what. -The stove was not functioning, nor were 2 of 4 burners. -The ceiling ac

Stayed here for the June Lake Jamfest. Reasonable room rate and reasonably close to the venue. Rooms are quiet. Great view of the lake from our room. My only gripe is that they didn't have 2 keys for the room, and the AC outlets are well used and my power adapters would not stay plugged in. But we stayed here last year and will probably stay here again next year.

Wound up here because we needed a last minute one night stay. What a shock. This place has the nicest views of the lake and is in the most perfect place, and yet.. what a disaster. The people are nice, but seem to not be able to understand how messy and how bad this place is run. Previous reviews state that things are being fixed, but in our room, the first thing was the terrible musty smell, kind of overwhelming. There was a gorgeous view off the back deck - but a deck of old plywood and railing that is barely there. No hot water other than the shower, lumpy bed, broken lamp, bathroom baseboard peeling off the wall, broken staircase...Such a shame to see a place like this fall apart.
