Customer Reviews
The Black Horse Inn is a cosy lodging and Susan, the manager is a funny and friendly host! We were there for four days and it’s a perfect spot to discover that beautiful area of Maine. Very calm, the rooms are large and comfortable. Frank the housekeeper makes all efforts to have the rooms very clean. Breakfast is prepared by Susan every day when she bakes delicious muffins, Nutella croissants or cinnamon rolls. It’s a continental menu but she includes boiled eggs. You feel at home in the dining area and talking to her. She gives you good tips on restaurants nearby. Not leave without having a delicious lobster at McLaughin on Lincolnville Beach! Discover Camden, Rockport, Acadia Park and Bar Harbor during your stay. Recommended!
We drove 5 miles from Camden Maine and saved a bunch! This place was a very pleasant surprise! Stayed there last night- it’s safe, clean, comfortable and spacious! The lady in charge is pleasant, friendly, and a hard worker. Breakfast was eggs , OJ, and muffins.
I have stayed here prior under the previous owners of the INN so in July when I was there on vacation we stopped by to see how the place was doing under the new owners of the INN. We were appalled by the condition of the INN now and how it looked more like a crack house than a vacation destination. Lawn unkept, trash everywhere, people under a tent in the trees off the driveway, doors and windows left open to the INN. The new owners need to hire new managers or this place will end up ruined which is a shame considering the location and views from this property.
Dated interior with large comfortable rooms could be charming but strange rules and staff made us feel tolerated, not welcomed. There were no common areas inside we were allowed to use excepting the dining area during specific breakfast hours. One main common room was a clutter of boxes. There were Christmas decorations at the front desk in June. We arrived by bicycle and were asked not to lean our bikes anywhere and to store them in the woods. We love animals but observed the resident small dog was hostile to guests. Unfortunately accommodation options can be limited in this stretch. Recommend considering staying a bit North or South.
Clean, comfortable. The manager Fran is wonderful. She made certain that we were very happy and comfortable during our stay. Great breakfast with delicious homemade muffins. We highly recommend when visiting the Camden area.
