Best Western Shallotte/Ocean Isle Beach Hotel

We planned a 3 night stay at this hotel from February 14-17, 2025. We arrived at the hotel the evening of February 14 and check-in was good. The hotel clerk was very nice. That’s where things went wrong. We had reserved a king room with a jacuzzi tub. After getting settled in the room, my husband started the water for the jacuzzi tub, noticing that both handles were broken, and before the water was even near the jets, the hot water was gone. We continued adding lukewarm water just to see if it might be okay. After I got in the lukewarm water and turned on the jets, the motor was so loud that I couldn’t tolerate it along with the lack of hot water in the tub. My husband said that something was wrong with the motor. I got out and drained the tub and that’s when we noticed the dripping faucet

We were in town for a bowling tournament, and the location is about the only thing I can say good about our stay. Earlier this year we also stayed with this hotel and did not have any hot water, so when we checked in this time I mentioned to the front desk and was basically brushed off saying we have to reset it and just so you know the hotel is full. So of course when we got up this morning to get ready no hot water again. The breakfast was pretty good other than the staff sweeping under our feet at the table and making us feel rushed when we were there at 730am and only a total of 4 were eating breakfast. The condition of the hotel was not great either. The carpeting in halls was coming up and made it very difficult to roll suitcases, bowling bags, and walk. Our room had floor boards th

Check in was fast and easy and friendly. Room was clean and roomy. Didn’t eat but enjoyed the coffee. Was a good value.

First let me say that some of the nicest people work at this hotel and me and my family have stayed here while visiting family for years. However, we will never stay here again! 2 night stay began with 4 Roaches in our room (Room 108), 2 we killed, one got away behind the closet insert and the other one died cause I asked them to spray the room.Also at breakfast there was at least a 4 inch cricket on the window in the dining room (I have no idea where he hopped to after that), lastly, my daughter and her boyfriend stayed in (Room 102) and they had mold on the base of their bed. In the 25 years I have stayed here, we have NEVER seen any bugs until this trip and I am so seriously disappointed. We won’t be staying here again.

I would say this is a perfectly adequate hotel. The location is good. Less than 30 mins to Holden Beach and Ocean Isle. Shallotte proper is only 10 mins away. The rooms are a good size and comfortable. The a/c was a bit finicky, but it wasn't too difficult to get it to the right setting. The included breakfast was fine. The two egg options didn't look very appetizing. But they did have waffles and biscuits & gravy, though, so that was a plus. A couple items my kids wanted ran out before they could get some and the staff quickly replaced them. We'll likely stay there again the next time we are in the area.
