Benson Motel for Veterans

This former motel has been converted to studio apartments, mainly for Veterans. The VA hospital is responsible for providing the tenants, upon approval of the motel management. I'll be moving there in a few days. Pets are accepted. Dogs must be leashed when outside, and walked off the property. The grounds look nice, with Sago Palm trees and grassy areas. The Manager, Susan, could not be nicer. She filled me in on all details and requirements I needed to know, plus she has a terrific sense of humor! I think we'll become good friends. Parking is directly in front of each room and is easily handicapped accessible. There is a laundromat on the premises. The location isn't the nicest. Run down. I felt perfectly safe, though. The buddy I visited was living in a relatively small efficiency apartment. It is about 15 feet square. Yet, there was a comfortable clean, spacious feeling to it. A small bathroom was reminiscent of the one in the RV my sister let's me live in. It looks cramped from outside, but is more spacious than expected from inside. I am a large framed man, yet I didn't feel like I was being crowded by the compartment. The shower is a decent size, as well. There is enough room for 2 chairs, a reading table, refrigerator and shelves. A small kitchen with a three burner stove, oven and sink round out this area. He sleeps in a full size bed. I am told that there are smaller apartments, as well as one twice the size of the one I just described. I am glad the VA/Section 8 people have him and other veteran

I love this place! The staff is amazing! They also remodeled the place and inside is just beautiful! If the residents need anything they can always count on the office! They got rid of the riff raff and cleaned up! If you ever seen the inside of the rooms in the past you will be amazed at how they look today! They are geared to helping the Vets and that alobe is a blessing! I want to say ty to the office and the new owner!! Keep up the great work!

I know someone who stays there. They are studio apartments not real small if you don't have much it will work. Quiet spot the people there seem friendly. Not sure about the neighborhood..friend told me never had a issue there.

I have lived at the Benson motel for veterans since 2013 and its a great place to live. The owners are very nice and management will help in any to make your stay the best it can be. I highly recommend the Benson motel for veterans because the prices are reasonable, the rooms are very clear and newly remodeled, and the neighbors are very nice.
