Astronomy viewing pad

Great site for stargazing. Each camp site, (A - E), has electric outlet on camp side and Astronomy side. Astronomy side is slightly elevated above the camping side which helps for less obstructed viewing of the lower horizion. Convenient restrooms are located in the office just a short walk away.

Amazing star gazing! The Milky Way 🌌 was readily visible. Dark sky designation well deserved. Open and maintained area for telescopes and star gazing. Amateurs and experts welcomed.

We had an absolutely amazing camping experience here. The sky was amazingly clear and we could just barely begin to see the color in the stars. By far the beat star watching I’ve had in Florida. We were also pleasantly surprised that the astronomy site all had 30 and 50 amp hookups!

Pros: Darkest place in FL. If you want to go stargazing, this is the place to be. Also, the amount of wildlife here is amazing. Bunnies, birds, butterflies, deer, snakes, alligators, etc. Cons: Pretty hot- and we visited in April (we thought we could beat the heat). Summer is going to be the worst time to visit since that's when the sun is going to set the latest. Also, the campsites are not far apart. If you're looking for privacy, this isn't the place for you. Expect to talk to your neighbors lol. Overall, glad we went. The rangers were also very friendly. I'll be planning another visit in winter :)

Finally made it out here last night to take some Astro shots and it was a great experience seeing so many stars and other ppl who are into this stuff. Going back with a tent next time and hanging till sunrise.
