Antero Hot Springs Cabins

This area is beautiful, but if you are thinking about staying here then you should know what you're getting. My wife and I stayed in the Cottonwood cabin for our anniversary, which is in January. Having stayed in similar areas before, we were excited to spend some time together in the mountains, enjoy the hot spring, and stay warm in the cold and the snow. When we arrived, we discovered that the cabin is pretty cute. The word "rustic" applies here. The front part is apparently newer than the rear part, where the floor has soft spots and is sloped pretty dramatically downhill. There is a wood burning fireplace with a stock of wood outside. There's a little gas powered stove for heat. There are a few wall or floor heaters through the unit. But in the cold of January, they just didn't keep

Overpriced, outdated, undermaintained. Bathroom toilet so old and low it’s very hard to get on and off. At night you can smell the septic tank as you sit in the hot tubs. The floors are sloped and very unsteady to walk around in, especially the kitchen. The pool needs resurfacing, bits of the lamination on the pool floor coming off. Kitchenware, old and tired. Towels feel like they have been washed 1000 times. Simple things like this would be easy to fix however, they seem reluctant to spend any money to keep it updated. No screen doors means no airflow through the house on hot summer days and nights unless you let the bugs in. Nightly rental price is high for “double occupancy “, even though there are two or three bedrooms and sleep 4 to 6 people. But then you have to add $30 for every

The cabin is pleasantly rustic, and the private hot spring was clean, therapeutic, and serene. The temperature of 110°F was a little warm for us, so we added cold water via the nearby hose supplied for that purpose. We found the kitchen suitably stocked with dishes, cookware, and a coffee pot. The pillows were so comfortable we plan to buy some for home! We loved the short drive up to see the ghost town, chipmunks, and glorious fall colors of St. Elmo. We will be back.

We stayed at Cottonwood for four nights. I could not recommend this place highly enough. Booking, check-in, and check-out processes were easy. It was easy to find with GPS. It's well-located; a gorgeous three hour drive from the Denver airport and close to tons of trailheads, adventure experiences, and other local attractions. There are other properties around, but privacy was not an issue due to foliage and fencing. It was very quiet. The hot spring pool is absolutely incredible. The steam rising off it in the early morning sun is nothing short of breathtaking. The stargazing is top notch as the cabin is located in a level 1 area on the Bortle (light pollution) scale. Five of us stayed at one of the Antero Hot Springs cabins in Feb. 2022 after a week of skiing at Beaver Creek, Vail, and Breck. We had a wonderful visit. The scenery is beautiful. The house was large and well appointed. The hot tub was very hot, so we left it uncovered for a couple of hours and it cooled down to a more tolerable temperature. Such a beautiful setting! I highly recommend this facility for a weekend get-away or longer. It pairs very well with a ski trip!
