Dishonest and Unprofessional Management I called the Acropolis Hotel on a Friday to reserve a room, but a few hours later I decided to cancel the reservation. When I called back, I specifically asked the manager if there would be any kind of cancellation fee — which I was fine with if there was — and he said “OK,” implying everything was taken care of. At that time, my card hadn’t even been charged yet. Oddly enough, after canceling, my card was then charged the following Monday. When I called to find out what happened, the manager told me I was “out of luck” but that I’d receive a credit in the mail for a future stay. That “credit” never arrived. We stayed at this hotel for the last 5 days. I will say that it was in need of serious renovations / updates, especially for the price you pay. The AC worked, but barely and most likely could not keep up on super hot days. Also, the vent was in need of a good cleaning and was dripping water onto the carpet. Once in awhile you would get dripped on the head. The shower sink both need to be updated. The sink had chipped paint in it. There were no towel hooks on the door which was a little inconvenient. |On the plus side.. the view was beautiful. The walk to the beach was less than 5 minutes and we really enjoyed the bar downstairs. The pool was well kept. We watched them clean it daily. My family stayed at this lovely hotel for the first time In July of 2025. I was very nervous because I had read the reviews leading up to my stay, which were terrible. I am here to say that the horrible reviews that people write about this place are unfounded. This hotel is lovely! It is an amazing spot and view. The owners are wonderful and were nothing but helpful and sweet to us. One of the biggest complaints that people had was the air conditioning not working well. I’m not sure what that’s all about , because our room was comfortable and the air worked great. We like extra air flow, so we asked for fans, and they gave us two nice box fans. No problems. Ok I have stayed in a lotof bad places in my time. This place takes the cake. Rolling up on the place from the exterior i could tell it was run down. The pool area is nice i give them that, along with the location of the beach. The room and the building is like walking into the 1970’s. The room, the door someone forced entry into it previously. I could tell in. my job i inhave forced entry into a lot of doors in 30 years. the gap in the door wasn’t repaired. The A/C dosent work, and it’s pretty dirty. And do not plug anything into the outlets. I plugged in a charger and the lights flickered. The bathroom ceiling about to cave in. There was a time when this was a gorgeous hotel. That was a long time ago. The present owner has let the hotel fall into deplorable condition and I wonder if he's paying off the department of health to just remain open for business. Aside from being so old, dirty, stinky and infested, it's not even safe. The mold in the rooms is bad, the carpets are damp, filthy and sticky, AC doesn't work, elevator is filthy and broken, windows leak when it rains and the water runs into the OUTLETS, zero wifi, broken door locks, shady room occupants, bird crap in the pool.......the list goes on. And on top of all that, the owner and his wife are horrendous to customers who complain or request a refund. There's a sign in the lobby that says if you give them a good google review they will give you money off
