40 Winks Motel & Vacation Rentals

This is absolutely the worst discusting motel we ever stayed in. I don't know how it even got good reviews. It doesn't look like the picture. The room we were in was dirty. The dirt on the baseboards were never cleaned in awhile. I couldn't stand it, so I cleaned it. The mattress and box spring are old and stained, also the pillow cases and some of the towels have yellow stains on them. The sheets were actually scratchy and not soft. No tissues, no napkins, no hair dryer. Did not sleep well at all. The pillows are old, flat and hard. Check out the outside gutter, there is a tree growing out of it. I will never stay there again. I don't understand how this place got any good reviews. A gem it is not. They charged 90.00 per night for this.............

Nice place to stay. Outside gave a beachy feel. Inside, the room needed updated but it's clean. Nothing fancy. Room smelled like smoke to start. Opened window to let fresh air in and smell got better. Linens, bathroom, and towels were clean. There is cable TV and free wifi. Owner is great, really nice. I would recommend this place for the value. If you need a place to sleep and a hot shower, this is it. You can see the big lake from the parking lot. The lake is across a busy road and there is a city park and mini golf on the lake side.

My husband and I stayed at 40 Winks for a long weekend over the Fourth of July, and chose 40 Winks based on the good reviews here. We were not disappointed! We booked a suite and were completely satisfied. It was clean and comfortable, recently updated and nicely decorated. We loved having the kitchen, which saved money on dining out. We really enjoyed being right across the street from the beautiful Starlite Beach, and what fun it was to simply sit in our lawn chairs near the motel driveway to watch Alpena's wonderful fireworks show! We'll definitely look up 40 Winks again on a future trip to Alpena.

The suite was the BEST place to stay for our July family vacation. The new room decor is inviting and beachy, everyone was friendly and helpful, and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom is pretty tight, but the rest is spacious, and the pocket door separating the bedroom from the living area was very convenient with kids. The kitchen worked very well for us, with two high-quality portable electric cooktops and all cookware and dishware provided, and a grocery store a block down across the road. The kids loved being able to walk across the street to the beautiful beach, playground and splash park. Wish we could have stayed even longer!

#1 it is Clean! Our reservations were for a Queen bed $63 per night but because we were staying 4 nights we were able to upgrade to a vacation rental suite. Price for two adults was $150 per night for 2 modern, spacious, tastefully decorated cottage rooms. There is a door separating the bedroom area from the living/kitchen area. Modern appliances, air conditioning, 2 tv’s, kitchen utensils, toaster, etc. Don't forget to BYO coffee for the pot. |This was a much better experience than the Holiday Inn at $243 per night!|Across the street is one of several City Parks offering a playground, swimming and a splash park. Several restaurants including fast food are within 1/2 mile. We really enjoyed Nicks Diner. |We felt safe and the surrounding area is clean. Nice central location for Thunder B
