1768 Country Inn

This place is in a great location, the owner is great, and our room (Tuckerman) was clean. However, I can't say anything else good about it. The rooms have been hacked together, with walls half-covering light switches, a tiny bathroom vanity, and a very primitive, small shower stall. The bed was freshly made, but there were holes in the linens and it wasn't very comfortable. There were no easily accessible outlets in the room--they were behind the bed and/or used for the lights and AC already. We also were not provided wifi info, but stumbled upon it in the front room, taped to a coffee table. The wifi connection was spotty at best and my boyfriend couldn't connect for most of the night. The breakfast consisted of brown bags of muffins--not even set out on a tray. It was fine for one night

Booked for 3 nights and put in the Cranmore room: we left after 1 night taking the financial hit..... a good decision. The room was small and the thin frilly curtains totally inadequate. The paintwork and window frames were in a dreadful state and flat surfaces were dirty. Tiny television and a squeaky old bedstead. The bathroom was a disgrace - small and filthy. The tap fell off in the shower making it difficult to turn off the water. Breakfast was nothing special, they can’t even be bothered to cut the rind off melon and there was no 2% milk. Perhaps if the owners / staff spent more time on cleaning and maintenance and less time rearranging the excessive, twee decorations, this inn might improve. My advice is to find somewhere else.

To begin....I will give the one redeeming quality of this Bed and Breakfast. The Hostess/Owner was very friendly when she was around, however, you would only see her at breakfast, which wasn't at all bad. I've had much better at other B&B's, even better "continental breakfasts" at hotel chains, but, thats not why I'm writing this review. I understand the going rate of rooms in places during peak season. In northern NH, that time is October. However, what I paid for ($350/2nights) was by far not what I received. There is very little authentic about the House any more. The rooms are chopped up, and poorly decorated. It seems they allowed the local kindergarten class to paint the walls and trim. Would have liked to have given this no stars just on the recent experience I had here. If you are thinking about staying here GO SOMEPLACE ELSE !! Room we reserved was definitely not the room we got. Had the name of the room right on the confirmation and all. When arriving Innkeeper took us out back to an attached building and indicated it was our room. Tag on the key said #105. Anyway upon opening the room, it was a studio type room. Smelled AWFUL. Musty and dusty. Have no idea when windows & blinds were cleaned. Headboard was NOT attached to bed. Faucets in bath sink were in reverse so when you turned on the 'hot' water/LEFT, out came cold, Right handle gave you HOT, and if you weren't careful you could scald yourself. Had reserved Cranmore Room. Got there and was given room #105 ?? Was taken out back of the Inn to a converted bldg. When the door was opened, the musty smell from the room was overwhelming. Faucet at bathroom sink were in reverse, faucet handles in bathtub FELL off while trying to operate. Shower head was for people under 5 ft in height, mini fridge door had wedge under it so it would stay closed. Closet in bathroom, the floor was filthy, there was a small fan in closet that did not work so why it was there I don't know. Windows had not seen a cleaning in years with the exception of the rain washing the outside of them. Headboard of bed wasn't attached so it wiggled.
