Wood Mountain Road Campground

We stayed in a cabin here on a trip through WV and found it a nice, functional experience. We've been staying one night at each place we have been stopping, so we only really needed the basics to refuel before continuing on. The rooms were well-kept, the bathroom was nice, clean, and well-supplied. There's wifi and a smart TV to wind-down at the end of the night. The two bedrooms are a touch small, but for us, it wasn't a problem as we left as soon as we got up. One of the window AC units didn't seem to blow cold air, despite fiddling with it (the smaller bedroom), but thankfully, the night was cool enough that it wasn't a problem for me. All in all, it's a cute little place near Beckley and the New River Gorge (our next destination).

We stayed in a cabin here in June. My bed was full of… someone else’s hair. Someone came in and changed the sheets and whatnot, but you should do that before someone stays! There was a strange smell throughout the whole cabin, like a dog or something. All they gave us were these boxes with gel orbs in them or whatever and that was supposed to repel that horrible smell. It did the job decently, but it wasn’t enough. Everything else was very clean. The bathroom was pristine. I just think I should expect a clean bed and a decent smelling room when I stay anywhere.

Concrete slabs were not even close to being level. Had a hard time leveling my class a motorhome because of them being so far out of level. Garbage cans were overflowing with garbage. No one there to check you in or to clean the place up. The campground was very unclean.

This campground is rough , no amenities , no office to check in , no people at the campground , stray dog roaming around Camping for 8 years , 33 national parks and this was the worst !! Booked 3 nights - stayed 1 and they wouldn’t even refund 1 night !!! Don’t go
