Wilshire Serrano Motel

I've rented a room via AirBnB and it is pretty okay. Me and my girlfriend stayed for 5 nights and we got a discount. Host at the place was quite helpful and polite, so did AirBnB host. Place has new furniture but the AC is old, but works well. Shower is good and bathroom feels clean. Free parking and quite good located. Place is dusty, I don't know why, but just ask the host to clean and everything will be okay. They provided soap, and towels and room has a fridge. Looks safe, but doesn't feel so much as our bathroom had a easy-to-open-from-outside window but everything as okay. Neighborhood is quiet and there's a Starbucks right in the corner. Wifi is good! It's worth the price.

The manager/owner is quick to size people up based solely on their appearance. Only after blatantly scanning you from head to toe, will he "know" if there are any rooms available. Turns out he actually does have a sense of humor. He still looks me head to toe every time before agreeing to give me a room. I love the fact that there's no pesky room keys. They've got perfectly functioning digital keypads for entry! And still have a classic deadbolt. I've never seen any problems or any visible shenanigans, period. And it's for the super low!

Not terribly impressed with this hotel, it was being renovated during the 3 nights we stayed there, and looked as if it had been on going for some time and didn’t look like it would finish any time soon.||We arrived after 11 pm to find there was no bar open or any drinks of any type available, luckily we had some water in our room. There was no tea and coffee facilities in the room and the only ‘restaurant’ was a pub next door, although you could walk from the hotel. The food was ok but at lunch times and evenings it was very busy and noisy, with all the televisions it resembled a sports bar. We don’t recommend this hotel and will not be returning.

It's ok to get what you pay. Although the effort to keep it clean was obvious, my room was up for new curtains, a major paint job and some general maintenance. Unfortunately, non-smoking rooms aren't available.

Location was convenient - close to metro, lots of places to eat, and grocery stores in a relatively safe area (don't be outside too late - its LA!). Room was clean, AC was good and so was the hot water and decor. Would stay again considering the price.
