White Birches Motel

The front desk receptionists are helpful, hence the two stars instead of one. However, this location is extremely sketchy and I didn’t feel safe here at all. We booked a room for three nights but ended up leaving after the second. The walls are paper thin- you can hear literally everything going on in the rooms next to you. Our second night here a man set up outside our door until 2am drinking beers out of a cooler and yelling into his phone. I think this motel must lease rooms to long-term tenants that get too comfortable here because honestly this behavior was shocking. The room itself was extremely bare and uncomfortable. There was so much humidity in the bathroom before we even arrived that the toilet paper was damp and we had to go out and buy our own. Kind of a side note, but our

I was pleasantly surprised!||Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect after reading some mixed reviews, but the room was very clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The kitchenette was a great bonus—the fridge was just the right size, and both the A/C and heat worked perfectly when needed.||The atmosphere was relaxed, with a nice mix of summer travelers, and everyone was generally friendly. I enjoyed grabbing free coffee each morning from the office area, which also has a ton of helpful brochures for local attractions like Acadia National Park, Schoodic Point, kayaking trips, bike trails, and even bus tours.||The staff were friendly and accommodating, and I had no issues at all during my stay. Reserved a room over the Indigneous Peoples' Weekend hoping to spend some time in Acadia National Park (Convenient Location to MDI and Bar Harbor) and chose the White Birches Motel as it was one of the only rooms available over this very busy tourist weekend. We paid $748 for two nights: a price that I thought was steep but I was will to pay that given the holiday weekend.(For reference, the week after IP weekend, a two night stay would have cost us $180). The beds were neatly made though they had the feeling that they were worn out. The room's blue walls had paint scratches throughout, the bathroom door did not latch shut, and the parking there was incredibly tight, even with a compact car. In both the rooms and in the motel lobby, there was the overpowering smell of an unpleasant air

Nice rooms with a kitchenette, and the staff is friendly. Good location with stores/restaurants within minutes of driving. Due to being the "off season" the staff has downsized. This has resulted in trashcans inside the rooms will not being emptied, the only dumpster is 300 yards away (the periodically spaced bins have been removed), room has not been swept/mopped, and linens have not been washed/changed regularly. If this was not during the off season, this would be a much higher rated stay.
