Had a good overnight at this location. Took a trail near the north end of the wilderness to avoid flooded areas from beavers. The trail was easy to follow and the area was very serene, there wasn't much sign of life by man or beast. At least not on trail, there were many visitors in the forest area (probably bow hunters) but the wilderness was very quiet. A few birds but no sign of life otherwise. Very peaceful and relaxing late fall stay.

A place of peace. One of my favorite spots, still to this day. This is a Wilderness hiking/camping area so be prepared for that. Take a map and know how to navigate. It's very easy to get lost hiking in Riley Lake. There is a reward at the end when you find seclusion though. I could sit at peace and meditate by the creek listening to the water if not for the mosquitoes.

Been going here for about 5 years If you start at the trail head at 2151, this will take you to the lake riley site. Should take you about 30-45 minutes to make it to lake riley. The trail has been becoming more and more flooded each year. You used to be sort of able to go around the flooding, but it has gotten to a point where you just have to walk through it. We usually hike in with our waders already on (The trail is flooded in several places on the way to this spot). This is a great place to explore.

The trails were not kept up well. In fact there are a few spots where we lost the trail. Lots of downed trees making it hard to get through with packs on. So even though you might only be hiking in a few miles its pretty rough if you don't pack light. Overall, if you find yourself a spot and stick with it, it's nice and isolated and makes for a great trip.
