Village Square Motel

My husband and I received the worst service and we're horrified by the condition of the rooms. We were sent to room 115 first which was unmade and in complete shambles. We asked for an owner after being accused of smoking in the room and denied a second night after traveling here for a chemo treatment and was denied that. The housekeeper then said that she was the owner. Many pictures were taken of the room and the room we were first sent to and I will be posting all of them as well as calling the better business bureau to report this. No screens in the Windows, the floors were not vacuumed and much more. If I were not so sick I would have run but to be sent away feeling the way I do is a shame and they should be ashamed of themselves. A much needed building inspector is in need of a visit

Although this motel is in close proximity to some great attractions it is truly awful. When we opened the door to the motel it wasn't horrible at first. Upon closer inspection you could see cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling and painted duct tape around the windowsill. The bathroom, however, was the icing on the cake. It was extremely small with ripped up linoleum in the shower (I had serious concerns of contracting a virus). When we complained to the manager about the state of the room she offered to show us another one. The second room proved to be even worse than the first. The layout and look of this motel brings back memories of many road trips I have taken over the years. The rooms are arrayed around a central parking lot, edged by pretty black-eyed susans. The room is in need of some sprucing up, but was more than adequate for an overnight stay. The price is very reasonable. Breakfast is included. The warm welcome by the desk clerk and her adorable daughter added to our good experience there.

From the outside, looks like a cute 'motor lodge' type motel, but once you get in the room, it's a different story. Everything in the room has been in use FAR too long - curtains with holes, stained armchair, cracked yellowing lampshades, peeling wallpaper. The rooms appear to be well-cleaned, but it's no match for the disrepair. Unless the AC is running full-blast, everything quickly gets damp. Both rooms had a stale musty smell. The bathrooms are tiny, with only a stand up shower. The radiator is right in front of the toilet, so you have to sit a little sideways. We won't be staying here again, and can't recommend it.

We moved to this motel from the much nicer Roosevelt Inn across the road because we wanted to save a few bucks. After the first night, my husband said, "I see what a few more dollars gets you." The Village Square is run down and badly in need of updating. While the room was clean and the beds were comfortable enough, everything was scratched and scuffed and the bathroom was tiny, with no outlets or hooks to hang a robe. The shower was a stall not quite large enough to move around in. I would watch for a major renovation of this motel before booking it.
