Valentine Lakeside

We absolutely LOVED our experience at Valentine Lakeside! The cozy cabins and scenic views were a highlight of our adventures through the hill country, and the warm, welcoming owners (aka-'The Chicks) were extremely responsive to any needs or questions we had about the area. I'll be frank. I grew up coming out to Lake LBJ and have cringed a bit at the number of over-the-top, 20-bedroom mega-mansion lake houses that now sit on the water line. Despite their swanky presence and manicured landscapes, they seem mostly unused and under-enjoyed. It makes me kinda sad that they are most likely out of the price range for 'average' family vacationer such as ourselves. A gem of a location. So happy I stumbled upon this place because it felt like a cozy, relaxing vacation. After 14 hours of international travel, the studio cabin I rented was really a welcome respite. The location felt like a little community with all the other cabins, but all guests were quiet, mostly couples. I think this place embodies true hill country living, with personable friendly personalities willing to help and a slow, warm pace. I loved my stay here and it was the best rentals from my vacation back here in Texas. I wish I had planned to stay longer, because I could really catch my breath here. We stayed at Valentines for the winter. They have varied units of various sizes. We were not happy that you walk into a bedroom as soon as you enter the unit. The kitchen is small but fully stocked! They had nice clean sheets on the bed and the bedding was ok. That could be updated. The new owners are very pleasant and helpful. They really want people to have a good time while you are there. The owners are in the process of fixing the buildings up and making it look inviting. The prices are of the norm that are charged in other resorts in the area. If you like to fish, this is the place to stay! They have many boat slips and offer boat and canoe rentals. You can get bait there too. Our family stayed here with our young kids and puppy. The staff was very courteous and helpful when deciding which cabin to book. The whole family had a blast fishing off the dock. The room had to everything we needed, and was very comfortable! Most of all the place was very quiet and easily accessible, we'll definitely be back!

We had a group outing here and all the kids enjoyed greatly! The place very clean and the pool kept crisp clear very clean. Friendly staff. Great access to the lake and fishing!
