University Hotel - Davis Area

It is difficult to fathom how the University Hotel Davis by IHG, seemingly a recent addition to the chain, with the air of a former Hampton Inn that has undergone thoughtful upgrades and renewal, manages to deliver such exceptional value at its modest room rates. The rooms are notably spacious, with king-size beds that provide genuine comfort rather than the usual token gesture. Every detail, from the plentiful parking and the complimentary hot breakfast, suggests thoughtful generosity. Breakfast itself is a cheerful surprise: two styles of hot waffles, omelets, and the unexpected delight of a patty for the bagel, ensuring both abundance and order. Ive been coming to this hotel for years. Ive seen it transition from comfort suites, to country inn to now the university hotel. I used to only make my reservations online because the staff couldn't get it right. However the last year ive seen major changes with the quality of the hotel and the staff. I have begone to consider the staff friends. Especially Kathleen, since she started i feel more welcomed than i have in years. She always greets me with a smile and a good morning. Any issues I experience she makes sure get handled before i come back from work. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in the area.

This location is changing over from Choice to IHG. Even though they were in the middle of updating everything, the rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. It is very easy to access the I-80 freeway. It is nice to be just outside the Davis area and have convenient access to Sacramento, but be outside the busyness and traffic of both. I was told the workout room is being updated. It currently only has 3 excerise machines and 2 were not working. There was nothing else in the exercise room. The staff was exceptional friendly and helpful. And the warm cookies they serve around 3pm are a nice touch. After they finish their updating, this will be an ideal place. We will definitely stay here again when we visit.

Positive: How close it is to my recurring events at the It's All About the Sdrapbook store. Negative: The breakfast was very basic

This is a rare gem, the room was large, the price was very reasonable and the breakfast was awesome. I will definitely stay here again.
