Unimproved Clear Lake North Group Campground

The last time I was at any of these 3 campgrounds along the northwest side of clear lake was in the memorial day weekend of 2011. 14-15 years ago. It was overcrowded even then because it's just too close to Yakima. So drunken parties with loud rock music were already a thing. And the Forest Service didn't have enough law enforcement authorized personnel to get a quick response time. I think they've had cutbacks since then so I'm sure it's worse. Back then the Yakima County Sheriff's had a deputy drive all the way up the highway and they'd usually arrive at the campground shortly after dark to get people people settled down. I actually saw the occasional arrest back then for drunk and disorderly but especially for unsafe discharge of firearns(any place there is illegal). But it sounds like

What a wonderful slice of beauty this entire area was. For the love of decency. Learn how to go to the bathroom outside. The amount of garbage all over the place. Mainly toilet paper was sad.

The campground is first come first serve. It’s a $20 camping fee with $10 for an extra vehicle (10/day for extra vehicle). Cash only. There are bathrooms and a dumpster for trash. Mostly boaters and rv’ers take up a lot of the sites by Friday. They do have $10 day use camping areas for a nice picnic. In general there were families enjoying their time there. But this is a very congested area now. It was packed to the brim by Friday night. All night we heard loud music, dogs barking, car alarms going off and people yelling. It was like being in the ghetto with no amenities lol. I’m sure none of the families with children enjoyed this. But we all suffered through it. We left early because this to me is just not camping. This place is great! Cheap place to camp right by the river and a very short drive to the lake if you want to boat or do whatever. It looked like about 12 campsites all had to share one female and one male bathroom so if its busy, just plan for that if you can. I cant speak for the entire campground but the site we chose that's about how many surrounding sites were close to the restroom. All of the sites had some shade, some obviously had more than others. Theres trails all over the place. We went on a Wednesday and there were plenty of hikers moving about the area by the main road. Overall, it was really a good place to camp.

Our family very much enjoyed our campsite! The bathrooms were clean and sites well maintianed. The only downside were the other campers loud music and partying till 3 am.
