Tumbleweed Campground

Great place to spend the night. I arrived on a super windy day so there was lots of dust blowing around, Caleb let me stay in the hogan which was a very unique camping experience. Staying in the hogan is much like going to the beach, expect to find red dust everywhere even months later. Considering that it's the family ranch it seemed a bit sketchy at first however one of Caleb's family members helped pull my vehicle when I got it stuck in a sandy area, and his mother and father were very nice when they checked to make sure I was doing alright.

We had a lovely stay at Tumbleweed Campground. The campground is very basic; just a patch of desert. No picnic tables, water or fire rings, however we were able to have campfires in the sand with the free wood that was provided. The outhouse is very rustic, but this is made up for by the incredible view it offers.The campground is extremely close to the major monuments. Because it is just off Monument Valley Road, there is traffic noise during the day, but none at night. The hosts are very friendly. We enjoyed herding sheep and eating dinner with them.

My family and I stayed in the campgrounds of Tumbleweed. We were there for 3 days and two nights. This place is extremely beautiful. The view is phenomenal. There is no showers but the restroom is very clean. This place is very easy to arrive and is near the road. The property is very huge, we were a group of five females and the whole time we felt very safe especially after the Family Chee welcomed us. Definitely this family made the difference for us in our trip. I asked what recommendations they can provide us for food wise and the family offered to cook for us while we stayed with them. The cost is very affordable. We ate very delicious breakfast burritos and Navajo tacos. My favorites part of my stay, is the sunset following the sky illuminated with stars. I stayed at Tumbleweed for one night with my family in our 30’ rented RV. Staying so close to Monument valley in the middle of a beautiful desert was a highlight of our trip. It felt like we were in the middle of an untouched desert. Very natural and peaceful. Traffic on the nearby road was very low to none after 10:00 pm or so and did not pick up until after 7:30 am. We were alone but it looks like they have 3-4 camping sites. This is dry camping, so basic but level and exactly what we were looking for. I think they often have tent campers but we were able to get in with our RV with no problem. The hosts were very friendly and I would recommend staying here to anyone who is looking for dry camping. As this is a small place, I am sure the hosts appreciated uncomplicated and kind guests 😊

We had a fabulous stay here dry camping. The owners are wonderful and looked after us. An adult horse and colt ran by us as we were setting up, and that marked the beginning of our stay. Caleb’s recommendation for Monumental Tours for Monument Valley was spot on. This area is a spiritual place. We plan to come back.
