Tru by Hilton Thornburg

The hotel is okay and gets the job done for an overnight stay. I don’t understand the thought behind pumping scents into the air at some locations. It is so strong and overwhelming and for me, irritating. Granted, I am really sensitive to fragrances but I am not the only one. Those who are not sensitive to fragrances would also be fine NOT having these scents. I strongly feel that if your location is clean, that’s enough. Is it worth negatively affecting those with these sensitivities? Speaking of cleanliness, the hotel was fine however the breakfast area could have been cleaner. It appeared the counter behind the oatmeal machine hadn’t been wiped down in a really long time. Similarly, the tops of the toppings jars for the oatmeal also looked like they hadn’t been washed in quite some

My first time at a Tru, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. The lobby had a weird perfume smell like air fresheners. That always makes me wonder why that’s needed. But we checked in and the manager said they weren’t giving key cards because their machine was broken, so he called a guy that had been sitting in the lobby area to walk us to the room and open the door for us…it definitely felt weird. He did not seem like an employee since he had been sitting in the lobby with two women, I’m guessing the managers family. So somebody else had a key to my room but I didn’t! We just stayed in the room all night because we’d have to have that guy open our door again?! The room was ok, nothing great. Breakfast…it was just ok especially because the toaster was broken, so no toast? Come on Hilton,

Positive: Location was very convenient, bed was super comfortable! Negative: The room needed a few repairs, (ie: the light was dangling from the wall with the wires exposed! The wall had a suspicious (vomit looking) stain, and the shower door was super leaky, like flood leak, due to the seal missing.

The area is expanding and the hotel has a few fast food places, a sheetz, a starbucks, a taco bell, and a mcdonalds within 2 minutes. The staff at the hotel is lovely, very nice and helpful. Tru is famous for looking ok, being cheap, so I wasn't surprised when the wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling or the black out shade was ripped from poor installation. Also some sort of white stain on the bed frame. See photos. A white stain is just so unsettling when you walk into a hotel room. Everything else was fine. Location is good, area is fairly quiet and easy access to the highway. I felt safe as a solo female traveler. Except for the assault on my senses from the stain.

My Experience at a The Hilton Thornburg was more than phenomenal. The front desk employee that checked on in was more than helpful beyond words that I can explain as well as the other front desk employees. They treated us with Love and respect. The breakfast was superb and the cleanliness of lobby area and the lounge inside the hotel was superb. My kids would love to stay at this hotel again because of the remarkable view of the Racetrac from our bedroom window.
