Trout Lake State Forest Campground

The lake is gone indefinitely. They said they are hoping nature runs it's course and the beavers bring the lake back. Could be back next year, but who knows. On the plus side, with the lake gone it was nice and quiet with only a few spaces filled, and it is still a nice enough campground even without the lake.

Draining this lake was the worst things that could have happened to this campground. This was one of the most beautiful hidden gems and now it's completely destroyed.

I just came from this lake, which is no longer a lake. What happened to it, who's the person that took a great functioning lake, and made it like this. A really shallow lake, if they drained it, then you did the worst thing that could have done. The only thing going out there now is hiking, and that's it. It gets hot there every year, the lake was the only activity that kids would enjoy. This is no longer family friendly anymore. It looks more like a dumpster now. Don't take your kids out there for swimming, that won't be happening.

Its beautiful here, but the DNR won't enforce quiet hours. We've been listening to someone run an insanely loud generator day and night, and its completely ruined the entire trip. Don't waste your time and take the chance that you end up with bad neighbors - nothing will be done about it.

Has a lovely campground adjacent to the lake. The way to get there is inconsistent with Google maps. Use the posted signs.
