Tombstone Lookout Lodge

Great location, but was 2x charged for my room; was told I would have a refund, to this date nothing (2 months later by management). Front desk was nice but housekeeping was rude to family in front of kids. They locked me out of my room with dog stuck in room and belittled by housekeeping because dog was in the room and complained she was going to have to pull all the sheets off of the bed and clean the room why there was a dog in the room (everything was on my file and disclosed and paid extra to have the dog in room at reservation and check in). The error in key was the key card was only programmed for 1 night when I paid two nights and after housekeeping tried to make us feel like we were in the wrong we had to get the rekeyed for the right amount of days to get the dog outside. We booked this hotel because of breakfast included, the pics on their ad showed a full buffet. Not true! Was told they changed pic on ad, day before we got there, said they were getting bad reviews , I told her we would just leave after first night and find a different hotel, she said if I add eggs and sausage would we stay, they did add the eggs and sausage . We were there for 4 nights, our room was not serviced even once, had to go ask for towels, coffee pods, etc. every single day. |Sign by road says under new management, the owner told us he has owned for 2.5 yrs|That is not new management!| The locals we met in town told us that the owner was not only a jerk to us, but does not have a good reputation in town. That speaks volumes!|Take a pass on this hotel, get closer to town wher

Positive: The customer service by the staff was excellent. Negative: I really think this hotel needs a major overhaul. It's old and falling apart. There's only so many times you can plaster cracks in the ceiling and walls. The bed was hard and very uncomfortable. The bathtub spigot was falling out of the wall. No microwave

I loved the location and views, gave it 4 stars because it is in the process on being updated, upgraded, we did not have access to the pool at the time. The staff and new manager are very nice. We really enjoyed sitting around the fire pit and chatting with other travelers. I plan to return to stay at this location when we come back to visit the area!

First positive was the peaceful, panoramic view. Second positive was the extraordinary kindness of staff (in particular, the GM Christopher Bertram), who located an item we left behind ... persisted through a week of long telephone tag ... until we connected and Mr. Bertram voluntarily packed and mailed our item ... and would only let us compensate him for shipping charge. Third positive was the room decor and cleanliness. Hope the best for staff of this Lodge.
