If you are looking for a Marriott or Hilton, this ain't the place. But if you are looking for a real country inn in a very small town this is it. I have stayed here several times through several different owners, and this iteration brings back one of the original owners who has done a decent renovation. Yes the floors creek, and each room is different, but that is what you came here for. The rooms are pleasantly appointed and are viewable online. But even better are the downstairs amenities. There is a small bar with tables and beer on tap, a sitting room and a dining room. And my party of four last week agreed that the meal we had there was the best of our trip. And as proof of how good the place is a bus load of 35 people staying at the Grafton Inn came here for dinner!! It could

My dinner companion, Linda, and I had not had a meal together in a while. She suggested The Saxtons River Inn, and I am glad we followed her recommendation. We arrived early to have a drink at the bar, but we were escorted to the quaint dining room where we met our server, an attentive, but not over-eager, woman. She offered us our menus, took our drink orders, and gave us all the time we needed to decide. We started with the artichoke dip accoutered with cucumbers, carrots, crackers, and bread. Wonderful, creamy, flavorful. My eggplant parmesan was hearty, filling, smooth, tasty. Linda loves to eat and was a member of the clean plate club in no time, indicating that she enjoyed her salmon as well. The maple creme brulee was gone in a trice. Perfect. A lovely meal, but what we enjoyed mos

We arrived and were warmly greeted and allowed to check in early. Our room was very clean, warm and quaintly decorated. We had a large balcony overlooking Main Street. That evening we had happy hour which lead into a 5 Star dinner. They had an excellent selection of Single Malt Scotch’s which were fairly priced. Sarah the InnKeeper joined us from time to time which made our dinner extra special. I would most certainly repeat!

Charming old building, super friendly and helpful staff, but some of the rooms need updating. Each room is different in size, decor and comfort. The private veranda was a charming touch and has comfortable chairs to sit on. Our bathroom had some issues--had to wait 3-4 minutes for the hot water to actually get hot, and then while taking a short shower, the water temperature changed from scalding to hot 3 times. Note there is no clock inside the rooms so bring your own or rely on your phone. ||||We were surprised at how small and empty the town is. Charming, but this is not where you will find cute shops and stores.||||Dinner at the Inn was good. Keurigs were available in the hall right outside our room which was lovely. Inn owner Sara was delightful.

On an earlier holiday, we used Saxtons River as a base for ten days. We did not stay in the hotel at that time, but we did have dinner every night in the hotel dining room. This trip we were driving to Montreal, so we decided to spend the night in the hotel for old times sake. The hotel is old but nicely old and is a great place to stay. There is no lift, but a big set of stairs to the first floor. Our room was large and comfortable. All furnishings are in tone with the hotel. We had a very nice balcony overlooking the Main Street. Wi fi was provided. Dinner in the dining room was very good, but there is no breakfast provided and not much choice in town for breakfast. We had a quick breakfast when we hit the main road. The hotel is a nice place to stay and we would stay there again.
