The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner

My friend came into town, so we spent the night at the Ritz Carlton. We had a delightful afternoon tea. The service was excellent, and the food and tea were delicious. ||The rooms were comfortable. The mini bar was excellent with lots of treats. There were a lot of nice details, such as bathroom amenities, including a toothbrush, shaving products, and mouthwash.||In the evening, they had a complementary wine tasting and live jazz music. The restaurant and bar are excellent, though we opted for room service, which was also good. ||The quality of service that we received is unparalleled. Everyone was so attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this place for a weekend getaway, or if you happen to be in the DC area.

From the other rooms I briefly saw during cleaning, some looked quite nice, but judging only by the room I stayed in, it didn't feel worth the price. The bathroom felt a bit small and not very stylish, the water never felt properly cool, and unlike many other hotels I've stayed at, there wasn't any one thing (room, bathroom, or view) that I truly loved, especially considering the hotel's name and reputation. What I did genuinely appreciate was the staff. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly and accommodating. I've only ever borrowed a microwave at other hotels, but here I ended up asking for a humidifier, then an air purifier, and also used the fridge—and each time the staff brought them to my room kindly and promptly. The people working there left a positive impression.

Staff were stellar: friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Room was mostly clean, but bathroom was dated and lights weren't working properly. Had to have moldy shower curtain replaced. Every elevator art piece had black stains all over them; couldn't tell if it was scuffs (off because they were even up high) or mold. Location is fantastic, especially when the weather is harsh because you can easily walk to restaurants or entertainment. Restaurant meal was good but not on par with the $400 bill for two and a child. Parking is off of an awkward, almost creepy parking structure with subtle but not cleaned space that give you "secret society" and "murder house" vibes simultaneously. Negative: The chips in the room were both expired and on a weight sensitive platform- lifting a single dusty snack up would cause it to be charged to your room. Lamps flickered, the curtain hooks had come unmoored, and the pool robes smelled of oil.
