The Retreat at Water's Edge

If you love Tiny Homes and love being outdoors this is a great place to spend the week or just a weekend. Plenty of hiking in the area, the lake inside the community to kayak or fish, fire pits at night, etc. A fun place to just be outside and enjoy nature!

We stayed at one of the cabins at The Retreat at Water’s Edge and had a deeply disappointing experience—not because of the property itself, but due to how our situation was handled by the host. Our trip was unexpectedly cut short when the Bonnaroo Music Festival was canceled due to severe weather. We immediately contacted our host, James, to inform him of our early departure and to request a partial refund for the unused nights. He read the message but did not respond—not for hours, not for days. Despite multiple follow-ups, the host remained silent. We submitted two formal refund requests through Airbnb—both were ignored or declined. Only after escalating to Airbnb did he finally reply, claiming he had typed a message and never hit send. Very disappointed with the Retreat at Water’s Edge. I booked a tiny home and then soon heard that the home was no longer available and they needed to switch us to another home, “Sunset Wonder”. I understand that things happen (perhaps a maintenance issue or double booking for the first home) and agreed to the new home. Fast forward to a day before our visit and hurricane Helene is looming. We receive a message from our airline regarding the sever weather could cancel our flight. Immediately we contact Retreat at Waters Edge and are basically told, sorry no refund/no credit. Terrible customer service given the circumstances of the sever weather (where their local schools were closed). This was our second booking but I would not recommend them to others. My children & I stayed here for a few days, & had a FANTASTIC time! Now, mind you, there's construction going on there, but the nights were quiet-and our favorite part of the stay. We enjoyed exploring different areas hiking & being in nature, and then we'd come back to the house, build a fire & just talk, look at the stars & catch fireflies. It was PERFECT! The details of the house made it feel like home away from home. It was CLEAN & had everything we needed, from fresh firewood to lighters to dishes, dish soap, even salt & pepper! We can't wait to go back. Thank you for the perfect cozy getaway!

Very cute cottage with amazing floor to ceiling windows. Unfortunately host charged a cleaning fee and then kept my deposit(s) because they had to clean. Pictures provided by host show the place needed a vacuum (indeed it did), but they failed to provide a working vacuum or broom so I couldn’t do it myself. Won’t stay here again. I have 5 star guest reviews with air bnb, so this is severely out of the norm. Other issues include exterior doors not locking, gas grill advertised as an amenity not in working condition, “guest friendly” garage not accessible, and they charged me for a hot tub lid that we had no part in breaking. Careful with “pushin time hideaway”.
