The Red Garter Inn was really fun. We had stayed a night in a different hotel that was way more expensive and not nearly our speed or style but Red Garter pulled through. The attention to detail and history is impressive. The room was clean and well taken care of. We had booked through a third party and never got the confirmation email with the details for check in. We were able to use the number on the door and go get dinner and had a response by the time we wanted to head back. We didn't know about the kitchen etc if that was open to use so we just stuck to our room. It is right by the train station and it can be loud, but I enjoy trains so it worked out for us. The gift shop is cool, just wish my tee shirt had the woman logo on the back. Otherwise, a solid stay and we are already lookin

So we stayed in room 2, the Madams room. I heard ghosts last night. Some passionate moaning sounded like from the room on the back side of hotel. A few hours later heavy slow footsteps walking down the hall to the front room woke me up. Then I heard the steps crossing through the living room to the bedroom side of the front room (Best Gals Room). We were the only people staying in the hotel last night. The other room doors were still open with the key in the lock just like the night before. And something touched the back of my head and hair. I’m so tired! Yikes! But the room was nice. Except shower was running hot and cold. Not sure if it was the plumbing or the ghosts!

There was no staff on the premises, and upon arrival the door to our room was left wide open. While I was inspecting the room, another guest exited his own room, walked directly past me, and entered our room. At first, I assumed he was the host, but he briefly entered and returned to his own room. This interaction was unsettling and made us feel unsafe. We later noticed pubic hair in the toilet, leading us to believe this guest may have been using our bathroom prior to our arrival. This raised serious concerns about cleanliness, privacy, and security. The host later explained the guest was staying an additional night, believed the room was unoccupied, entered to “take a look,” and then booked it for the following night. However, the guest was already settled in his room before we arrived,

This was by far the coolest hotel we've ever stayed at! We stayed in Big Bertha's room, and it was incredibly comfortable and quiet. We ran a white noise machine and didn't hear a thing. The beds were comfortable, the temperature was perfect, and bathroom was freaking awesome. Definitely a great stay!

I do not understand why this hotel is highly rated. Perhaps it's because of the histry of the building, or it's location. It was not a comfortable stay and there are absolutely no services. No one greeted you, no one was there to answer any questions or provide needed things (like toilet paper?). We were looking forward to staying in this historic hotel but I cannot recommend it - unless perhaps you are paying $30-50/night (we paid over $200 in the off season!!). I feel taken advantage of. We rented the largest room "Big Bertha", and the room was OK. Getting up and down the very steep stairs was an adventure, but the reservation did warn us about that. What they didn't warn us about is that there really is nothing but a room - and not a well-stocked room. We had to call for more toilet pa
