The Literary Hotel

My family and I reserved all 11 rooms on the second floor of the Literary Hotel when I got married in Solon this past December. Our big group was hard to please but absolutely everyone loved the rustic style of the rooms, and I received numerous complements about how attentive and accommodating Al was (the manager). The Literary is a great place to stay even if you need to be all the way out in Iowa City!

Loud music after midnight and the wood floors squeak at every step. It was like a frat house and not a hotel. Paper thin walls. We could hear the entire conversation of the party happening in the room below us. Do not waste your money.

What a neat historic building to put a fantastic boutique hotel in. The character of the room was so cool, exposed brick, beautiful wooden floors that creaked when you walked across them. Air conditioning was on when we got to the room and was nice and cool for a great nights sleep. We forgot our fan and the owner happily grabbed one from storage for us, super kind, we always sleep with one and forgot ours, so he went above and beyond by grabbing one for us. The shower was super hot with a great waterfall shower head. Will definitely stay again when we are in the area. Close to restaurants and shops.

A beautifully crafted, unique place to stay. The staff were very accommodating and provided us with an early check in. The historic features of this hotel are very well integrated throughout the building. Location is within walking distance of Solon’s well known restaurants. Will definitely be staying again!

Stunning hotel with a tasteful mix of historic charm and industrial modern decor. Rooms are spotlessly clean and relaxing. The complimentary drinks in the room were a very nice touch! The hotel is right off of Main Street in Solon, so within walking distance to everything in town. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
