The Kingston

The room was decent, bed linens were clean, but the best part was our front desk clerk Alicia! We were traveling with a baby from out of state and of course we were exhausted when we arrived and she made everything so easy! She was so pleasant and went out of her way to accommodate us with everything we needed and did so with a smile! We are very glad we decided to stay at the Kingston and will definitely do so again next time! The free shuttle was a huge plus! Location is great and the waitress in the restaurant was very nice too!

Checked in 2100 hrs. Paid £108 room only rate. Building nice from outside with plentiful parking. ||Room dirty; shower grime, hairs in bed (long, and certainly not ours as we are both male with short hair), sticky disposable cups, fridge / freezer full of dirt, our white socks were black after walking on the carpet. ||Some odd, offensive smell through the air con from 0600 hrs onwards. ||Advised reception on check out of the above to be told we should have contacted the 24/7 receptionist to have rectified the problems, and that problems like this can arise (?). I had to ask if the room had actually been cleaned, to give you an idea of our findings. ||An apology did not come easy. ||We stayed in a motel in another state the night prior for £60 which was spotless. ||Avoid.

I have been staying at the Kingston for like a week due to an apartment issue & I have felt so seen, accommodated, & just overall very well taken care of. The receptionist all have been super understanding of my situation & have done everything to assist me in feeling more at home, while I stay. I also have been getting exceptional service from the restaurant by the dock. Alaina & Nicole both have the best customer service ever, they go above and beyond. This stay has been nothing short of everything I need within a staycation within a home way from home, & I’m grateful and will be staying again. 5 stars!!!

We enjoyed our stay overall, but there are a few things worth mentioning. The cleaners could definitely go the extra mile — especially on the shower walls. There’s no microwave in the room, and they don’t offer rollaway beds or cribs. We were traveling with our 4-month-old and didn’t bring the pack ’n play, assuming they’d have a crib like most places, but they didn’t. The hotel does seem freshly renovated — you can literally smell the new wood! 😄 Still, it was definitely worth the money. Just a heads-up: breakfast isn’t free; it’s pay-as-you-go. I dont understand why theres so many 1 star reviews. This place is fantastic and it is only 12 minutes from downtown and Ubers are super cheap. The hotel itself also offers a free shuttle to downtown which is super convenient as well. Front desk staff was amazing and kind and the bar staff were also so kind to my wife on her birthday. Book this place you wont regret it a bit. Come with a positive attitude and leave with one. God bless you all
