The Island Hotel

Like others have said, it looks better online then in person. The office and our room absolutely reeked of mold. Our shower had horrible water pressure, and it took over 10 minutes for the water to get warm. It never got hot, even maxed out on hot. We called to have the shower looked at and to do something about the smell of mold. They said they would, but no one ever showed up. The bed was comfy, but the floors were dirty, and the balcony was infested with spiders and spider egg sacs. When we first checked in, the front desk man was on his phone the whole time, and didn't answer half of our questions. He was very hard to understand when he did talk to us. Love this hotel!.. Will be back for sure. The staff is genuinely kind and interested in your stay & making sure you’re taken care of. Tracy at the front desk is hands down one the best receptionists. And Sam is THE sweetest maintenance man. We have dogs so the stay here was perfect in so many ways. To the owner- - well done!!

Positive: The groudsmen seemed to be hard workers Negative: They nickel and dime you. You are charged $50.00 EXTRA to check in at 3pm verses 4pm. The breakfast was a joke. The first impression received was not welcoming. They have outdoor furniture but there is a note stating hotel guest are not allowed to use.

This motel was a fantastic place to stay! The room was very clean, and fully stocked. The staff were very attentive to any needs that arose, and they have optional room service, which I prefer to the random knocking every day. The ice machine was not working well, and when we brought this to the attention of the staff, they assumed someone filled their cooler, but in truth it wasn't functioning properly. The breakfast could have used more protein, but still had a good selection, and good coffee available 24/7! I will definitely be returning to this motel next year!

We were very dissatisfied with our total stay at this motel, first of all the pictures on their website are from the original opening of this building as we travel to Port Aransas every year and remember when this building was being built, so the pictures have not been updated, which is false advertising. Next, when we opened our door to our room, we were overcome by the smell of Clorox, which made us nauseous but the room as you could highly see was not that clean, as I found hair in the tub from the previous visitors, fresh linen had hair on it also, the furniture in the room looked like it was from the trash pile where the kick plates on the bottom of the dressers were ripped off, and all the furniture was peeling, the light fixture in the ceiling has mold around it which is a health is
