The Inn on the River

Historic town's hotel over 100 years. Unique experience. Staying on the first capital city of LA state. Maybe I'm the final visitor as hotel user. This location will be used to specific place as I heard from neighbors

I stayed here just one night for a wedding that was nearby. Room was clean and big. Very comfortable bed I absolutely loved the claw foot bath tub!!! The only downside I saw was there was no one at the front desk to greet you when I arrived or at checkout. It would’ve been nice to see a friendly face and “thank” them in person. Overall, I enjoyed my stay🙂

Our double room was sparsely furnished. No desk or chair. We had no windows in the room. There's a fridge, microwave, and a large bathroom. Fast Wi-Fi. Laundry available is a big plus! Worked great for a night passing through Donaldsonville. I like that is right downtown, but as others have said, not a lot goes on in downtown Donaldsonville.

Great little spot! Beautiful, classy rooms in a historic building. My room overlooked the main drag through Donaldsonville and the location is perfect for exploration of the historic district and the park along and atop the levee. I stayed here while about to complete my Mississippi River paddle and the owners were very kind and social. In addition to Gaston’s next door, don’t miss the Cane Sugar Toffee Company and the Grapevine Cafe.

The Inn on the River in Donaldsonville is next to the Mississippi but don't expect views from the hotel. The levee is at a protective height in Donaldsonville so the only river view is after climbing to the top of the levee. Plus several rooms of the Inn on the River have no windows. |The hotel is in the historic district but most of the district awaits renovation and repair, so the area has a down trodden feel. It is easy to walk the area and there are restaurants within walking distance, but it seems that they do not open on Mondays. The attached diner shut early evening. There are other restaurants and take aways within a short walk. No breakfast option at the hotel, but self service coffee available.|Central and an easy drive to several local tourist sites because of the river bridge o
