The Hideaway Campground

Great stay at The Hideaway Campground in Old Town, FL near the Suwannee River! Spacious sites with full hookups. Peaceful North Florida setting, and very well maintained. We especially loved the boardwalk and river trail. Such a beautiful place to walk and enjoy nature. Nice pool, fun campground activities, a good rec hall, and a convenient little camp store. There’s even a small fishing pond (with gators!) for that true Florida camping experience. Perfect for both RVers and tent campers looking for a relaxing Suwannee River getaway. To say we loved this campground would be an understatement. Old Florida, surrounded by nature, a boardwalk and trails along the river, full hook ups and spacious sites, lots of wildlife, and amenities—even a geocache at the entry! The only thing that could make it better would be a hot tub and heated pool! We spent a week here with friends and are already figuring out when we can return again. Looking forward to writing our blog about it to share this place with more people!

I usually do not give bad reviews unless the experience was such that was way beyond normal. This was one of those situations. We stayed at Suwanee River Hideaway last year for two weeks and loved it. Before we left the parking lot to come home, we had made a month-long reservation for the following year. We planned on doing the same thing again this year. Unfortunately, we did not know the campground would be under new ownership, the owners might be on site a few days a month and the rest of the time worked full time at another campground several hours away. There are only two positives I will point out are the location and the excellent, professional work performed by the Camp Hosts. I kind of don’t want to leave a review and risk more people finding this gem but they deserve it. We found this place after a pretty unfortunate experience at Manatee Springs State Park. This camp ground is so nice and well maintained with a really cool boardwalk. We tent camped and the site was perfect. But the best part was the women who helped check us in. They were unbelievably accommodating. It’s really the quality of service that rarely exists anymore and it turned a trip that was turning sour into one of the best camping experiences I’ve had. This is the new go-to for us. Can’t thank them enough!

This was our second visit and I absolutely love it. I the summer the sound of the crickets stopped me from sleeping. But now in January it was pitch black at night with a lot of stars everywhere. And it was silent all night. The boardwalk is still a little scary but leads to a great view of the river. Campsite 3 is the best. We had 2 2room tents and still had space for more
