The Harkness Hotel

A hidden gem in an unassuming town. We LOVED our stay! The Slate room is gorgeous and I felt like a princess during our stay. The bed is one of the most comfortable I have slept in, and the bathtub was large enough for my 6'4" husband to be comfortable in. We will choose to stay here any time we are in the area.

This is the BEST hotel! We stayed in the "Ivory Room" and my wife fell in love with the bed and bath. The giant soaker tub was the perfect means of relaxation after a long day of traveling, and the bed was extremely comfortable and seemed to be high quality. Highly recommended!

Positive: Beautifully restored and cared for hotel. Rooms/suites are generous with space and light. Outfitted perfectly. Negative: Two items on wishlist:An elevator - 21 steps up to residence floor. Next to impossible for older visitors or travelers with lots of stuff!No breakfast or nearby dining.

Wow! I am 50 years old and have never stayed in a hotel with as much attention to detail. What an outstanding job remodeling this piece of History. By far the best place we have ever stayed in! Also shows that renovating my 126 year old home might defiantly be worth it. Again Harkness Owners; what a great job.

I was recommended The Harkness Hotel by a friend after telling him I wanted to take my husband to Lava Hot Springs for a little getaway. We usually stay right in Lava, but after looking up The Harkness, I knew immediately that we had to stay there instead—and I am so glad we did. This is hands down the swankiest hotel I’ve ever found in a small town. The décor is incredibly classy, the rooms are spotless, and the beds are the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in, and I’ve stayed in some pretty high-end hotels. The bedding and pillows were perfect. I usually bring my own pillow because hotel pillows are usually terrible, but I didn’t need it here.
