The Fields Station

Very rude owners. We understand it's private property and you don't want people filming but when YouTubers are trying to show off your business to over a million people you think you'd like the free publicity but you don't ok cool. But the way you talk to people and the way you treat people I'm surprised you have any customers. I highly recommend no one ever going here.

We booked this hotel and per the check-in time we skipped other things to make it before 5:00. Website stated check-in from 3:00 to 5:00 |We arrived at 4:00 and we're told our room was not ready. I let them know we wanted to order food and she said our room would be ready by the time we were done with our food. We actually skipped local Hot springs in order to get there at the time that they specified. After traveling from Bend Oregon we needed to use the restroom. We were told to use the restroom out on the road. When entering the restroom everything seemed clean until I lifted the lid and found that apparently someone had been ill and splattered all over the back of the toilet. I have used many pit toilets in my years as a horse person and never encountered something that disgusting. W

We stopped in for burgers and shakes. My wife asked for burgers to be cooked well done. The woman told her they couldn’t do that, that the burgers would come out hockey pucks. She then said we only produce quality food. REALLY!! So we decided not to order anything. My sister in law was with us and ordered a milkshake and said it was amazing. So my wife returned to order two milkshakes but a different woman took her order, so wife asked her about well done burgers and was told she could do that. The First Lady she talked to overheard this conversation and rudely interrupted and said she had already told her they only cook burgers medium then walked off. The lady at counter told wife she could cook burgers with no pink. So she ordered two burgers and two shakes. Our order was called out, I

In about 2022 my brother and I came to town. Loved the area, Steens Mt and Alvord Desert and of course Fields. I had a Coffee/Toffee Shake. It was delicious! This is a rustic place. The bathroom worked, I filled my tank and I could not have been more pleased. Hopefully, I'll return someday to the middle of nowhere, Fields Oregon. Oh ya, I got a t-shirt too.

I felt compelled to leave a positive review after seeing all the negative ones. I was here a few years back on a trip around the high desert while visiting a friend who lived in Portland. We had camped on the Alvord and then went for a hike, so we were nearly drooling thinking about the burgers and shakes that awaited us. They were everything my friend promised they would be, what a blissful meal after camping and hiking in the desert! I found the staff to be perfectly pleasant - but, then, I’ve worked food service in a tourist town, so I know how important it is to be kind and patient. I also understand that the prices reflect the difficulty of getting food and gas all the way out there, so it’s perfectly reasonable.
