The Courtyard

The location is great. Great access to the beach, and close to great restaurants. We stayed in a premier king room. There was very little room to walk around the bed. The sheets were clean, but so very rough. The fireplace was cozy, but had to open the window so we wouldn’t overheat the small room. The soaking tub was large, and the shower quite small. The bathroom didn’t look or feel clean thanks to the cracked tiles, and dirty walls. We normally stay next door at the larger hotel, but thought we’d save a few dollars this time. We won’t make that mistake again.

We stayed here for three nights in August. Note that this hotel (or set of four hotels, the Cannon Beach Collection) is not so well known, so there are often vacancies available for booking at the last minute. We stayed here two years ago under the same circumstances. The girl who checked us in, Maiya (I am probably butchering the spelling, sorry) was super friendly and helpful. We had booked a second-story room but oddly, they planned on giving us a lower-level room. But after pointing this out, we were given the upper-level room we had booked (we booked directly). Two things about this hotel: it is "pet-friendly," and it is pretty old. Our room (#21) showed its age. The bed was nice. We came here way back in the 90‘s when it was relatively new. Rooms are spacious and clean. Nice location next to the beach. Room service was prompt. Love the inner courtyard and library even though we did never took much advantage of it. Plenty parking and only a few steps away to the beach. We stayed here year after year. But decided to check other places out as comparison. Some where cheaper and you could tell the difference. So when we decided to come back years later we could see the facility and rooms show its marks of wear and tear. I wish the management could make some upgrades or improvements. It is still a good place but not how we recalled. Hence I had to lower the rating for the rooms!!!

The location is perfect and we had a nice partial ocean view room. The wifi is terrible. There is not a/c and the room was boiling hot in the afternoons and evening. We had to open the door to the room and rig up the fan to try to create some airflow. they need to put units in these rooms. Multiple other people from other rooms were complaining as well. They do not clean the rooms, which is more post-coofid lazy nonsense. Check in went smoothly. The bed was comfortable. Shower was barely big enough for a grown man. If we weren't so happy to be in Cannon Beach and celebrating a special occasion this probably would have been a miserable stay. Pristine location near Cannon Beach, the Courtyard is charming on the outside, but the room was a disappointment. Our room was supposed to be ready for 3 guests. We had to move several pieces of furniture to make room to open the fold-out twin bed, which wasn't made. The queen bed was the most uncomfortable one we ever encountered and the pull-out twin was not much better. We could not reach the front desk from the room phone, which resulted in long walks to get a pillow and towels for our 3rd guest. A sign told us not to use the room's fireplace. The sliding glass door and window were extremely difficult to slide open and close. The ice machine produced noise, but not ice. We asked about beach accessibility while making our reservation (one of us is disabled) and were assured that we co
