We are tent campers and we prefer camping in dense forests with a view of the river, so this place was not a good fit for us. We didn't stay, just checked it out and moved on. There were 14 camp sites and only one family staying there. The whole campground is high above the river so you can't access the water and can't really see it unless you walk over to the edge of the cliff and look over. Not many trees there but it was clean so it could be a good place if you don't mind not having river access from your campsite.
Beautiful semi-primitive campground. Pit toilets, camp fire rings and some water in season.
Shame on Forest Service for closing main road. Not enforced though not far from Avery.
This would be a 5 star of there was better access to the water.
Great camping location! Close to a beautiful river. It’s very peaceful.
