Surrey inn (New Look)

The Surrey Inn is once again THE premier hotel in Ashland, Ohio! I used to stay at the Surrey Inn during it's hey day in the 80's. The new owners have brought this beautiful, historic, boutique hotel back to life! I see it has not yet regained it's rating as a 4 star hotel, however it is most definitely a 4 star! Upon arriving in the beautiful lobby one is greeted and made to feel at home by either the owner himself or one of his family members. The rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated, yet comfortable. The bed provided me with the best sleep I've had in months! This is the closest hotel to Main Street Downtown Ashland and Freer Field!

Our room wasn't cleaned when we arrived around 9pm. Staff person gave up a room he was going to use, and someone cleaned it quick. Beds were squishy, chair needed a good upholstery cleaning, shower head was gross, toilet seat was either dirty or needed replacing. Hotel exterior needs a good clean up and fresh paint. Breakfast was nothing more than box cereal and danish so we skipped it. Staff was nice but would never stay here again. The one upside was the Irish Pub in the same property. It was awesome.

Booked the Deluxe suite, get put in a basic double queen. Customer service says to give them 10 minutes to kick people out of my room. Also complains that owners yell at her for mistakes and she doesn't get paid. Get in the correct room, no batteries in remote, room smells like someone cooked chicken in microwave, and heat is blasted at 78 degrees. Customer service blames me for the batteries saying I did something wrong despite me holding a remote with no batteries. Beware!!!!!!!;

Stopped for 1 night. These service was horrible. There was no staff present at all and a ring doorbell. The guy shows up and then leaves. Transient type people outside smoking and a questionable person walking around lobby and outside and upstairs. Then I was followed by this person. The door to the room didn’t have an extra lock like every hotel has. Someone watching us from a window upstairs and the smell of pot permeated the air outside. My gut said don’t stay here and my mom and I left and found a better hotel. I felt extremely uncomfortable and unsafe.

At first I was hesitant, especially with the price. The outside does not do this place justice. The lobby looks quaint and inviting. And the rooms look newly updated. Staff is super nice and helpful. Check in was easy and super fast. Would totally stay here again
