Super 8 by Wyndham Peru Starved Rock State Park

I'll start with the positive attributes. The weekend rates are reasonable, I travel alot with work, and I find alot of price gouging on Friday and Saturday nights. I respect this Super 8 for keeping decent weekend rates. The area is quiet, and good assortment of restaurants in the general vicinity. The front desk lady was friendly, and check-in was quick. Now, let me move onto the not so stellar aspects. The hallway smells funny. I will never understand why some economy hotels think carpet in high traffic areas is a good ideal. It gets wet, it gets nasty, and guests are forced to deal with the lingering musky odor. Tile or some sort of vinyl flooring would make more sense. The entire building could use a deep clean. Old and in need of an update but rooms are clean, quiet and have all the necessities. It's super cheap. Continental breakfast included. Pet friendly. Conveniently located. Staff are friendly. Some of these reviews are hilarious. Not really sure what people are thinking sometimes. This is a hotel clearly best suited for quick stops to catch some sleep while passing through town and it meets these expectations. It's not the place for a luxurious weekend getaway.

The owners are extremely kind and nice. Everything is extremely clean. The beds & pillows are wonderful & comfortable. The outside of the hotel is being renovated. Definitely do not judge the hotel & experience by that. Love that they have an automated coffee machine in the lobby so the coffee is always fresh & hot

1.First impression entire hotel very rundown. 2.Room was sum what clean. Splatter of some sort of substance on the ceiling 3. Ice machine broken 4. Entire hotel reeks of CURRY COOKING SPICE. Had to spray perfume and cologne in room. Positive: staff is friendly. Had a 2nd reservation to return on our way home and canceled it. I guess you get what you pay for $89.00 for one night stay.
