Super 8 by Wyndham McHenry/Fox Lake Area

I am very disappointed in our stay here. 3 years ago I gave this place a great review but not today! They messed up our reservation for a double room. Ended up giving us 2 single Rooms, then came through after shift change in the middle of the night woke us up saying we needed to pay for the room. Rooms are ok. They are clean at least. Towels and rags were stained. HDMI cable to tv was broken. Customer service is in desperate need of some help at this establishment. Will be finding a different hotel next time im in McHenry.

Our key did not work after 3 attempts and the hotel was completely booked. The attendant at registration apologized and offered us a refund. Also we observed a drug deal in the parking lot and heard large dogs barking in the rooms. When we were leaving we observed people taking things out the bedroom windows to their car and crawling in and out the window. We booked elsewhere.

We booked a room because of a concert, we arrived an hour after check in time and 30 minutes after we said our arrival time would be. People in front of us had issues with check in, for us it was pretty quick because we did everything online first. Our room was not ready or even cleaned yet so we had to leave. Cleaners told us to talk to front desk staff but on our way out there was no one there. We ended up not staying at all, very unprofessional and low quality hotel.

All night about every 1/2 hour to hour there was a big bang sounded like dryer door shutting. Water across bathroom floor that appeared to be coming from under tub. Bathroom smelled musty moldy , primary room smelled fine.

It's one of the cheaper hotels in the area. Our room was clean. The curtain rod was broken & the front desk staff informed me that it was scheduled to be repaired. My son's room was clean as well. His A/C didn't work & they replaced it within 15 minutes. There was a smell of marijuana in the hallway by the side door but that is to be expected in a state where it is legal. TV worked, fridge worked, bathroom & sinks were clean & the bedding was clean with no stains. There were only 2 bath towels in the room, 2 hand towels & 1 wash cloth. We made due. I'm sure if I had asked for a couple more, that they would have accommodated me. All the interactions we had with the hotel staff were pleasant. The area was good & we felt safe.
