Spirit Water Inn

“THE MOST EXTREME DIVE WE HAVE EVER SEEN.” DO NOT BE FOOLED....this place looks NOTHING like the pictures. Clearly some of these reviews have been made by friends and not customers as no one in their right mind would give this place 5 stars. This place was so misrepresented that we could not even stay in our cabin. We booked well in advance and when we arrived at 5:30 pm, after driving for 11 hours we found that the cabin was not ready. We had unloaded our vehicle outside the door expecting it to be ready for us to occupy. We waited outside for 1 1/2 hours (not even kidding) for the cleaning lady to be done, during which time it rained on us and our belongings while we stood outside. The pictures on the websites of this place make it look nice, it is far from nice! I would give it a 1 or a 2 for the condition of the units and a 3 for the cleanliness.||The showerhead in our bathroom was held on with electrical tape, the doors would not lock as there was no cylinder in the locking part. When we booked this place we were told on the phone we could dock our boat a short walk from our room - a flat out lie. Air conditioner was way too small for the size of the accommodations, we complained and were told they would switch it out right away - never happened. I would definitely never stay here again.

I agree with the second review "Shockingly Misrepresented is right" this place needs a lot of work. Some light switches worked, luke warm water to shower, no paper towels or trash bags, and table cloth which was on the main head table was filthy. When I booked the place two weeks in advance and was quoted a price and never got a confirmation e-mail from Steve. He stated he doesn't know how to run a computer and that a woman was going to help him out and get it done. He called three days prior to our arrival being that I was firm that morning on the phone leaving him a message on his answering machine. He then spoke to my husband that evening and quoted him a price. Upon check out which we stayed only two night and Steve wanted us to stay longer we were charged $175.00 more per night.

This was our 7 th year staying at spirit water inn. Over the past few years have seen the resort change hands a few times. Previous owners did not take pride in the gem it was in the beginning. Now back under original ownership spirit water is a wonderful place. Steve the owner is nice and courteous to all his guests. Goes out of his way to see you're comfortable with your stay. The town lacks some love with houses and businesses moving out , so a small town is more noticeable. Will be making the trip from wisconsin for several more years. Gene

i feel that i have to counter this person's review. The Inn gets a 3 for being rundown and a 4 for being clean in spite of it. I give the town and the owner a 5 for friendliness. He accepted our well behaved shelties witth no additonal fee and no hassles. They have beein the grass in front ever since. The owner also provided my husband with a fishing pole and all the gear so he could try his hand at walleye fishing. He also offered washer and dryer service. This is a quiet pretty little town that is being taken over by Devil's Lake as it slowly increases in size. A sad but pretty reminder about Mother Nature and her power
