Spicer-Hughes Marina & Motel

This is a hidden gem! Weekend getaway approved. Rooms on the hotel is spacious. It was perfect for us. Room was super clean. We grilled steak on the pit outside. There are several around the property. We were able to fish there and get bait. We will definitely be back. We also brought our puppy. (Pet friendly rooms at hotel only but must notify them prior)

Inexpensive cozy and clean places to stay with pet friendly rooms and bait to purchase on onside. Landing to launch boat or fish off the docks.

Great option for a fishing trip. They have everything you need and they keep it in good condition. The cabins are lovely and very comfortable. The kitchenette has all the basic things you need. The landing is just for one boat at a time, and it gets very tricky when you want to set your boat back on the trailer because the current is strong. Lake Calcasieu has a lot of shallow water and a lot of crab traps, so you need to be very careful. The water is deeper if you stay near the canals that pass through it.

We have begun staying here fairly often. All the rooms and amenities in the rooms are different so we aren't ever quite sure what we are going to get when we get new rooms, but they are clean and someone is usually about if we need extra towels. Marina usually has bait (although ask, sometimes on Sundays they do not). Nice fish cleaning area and most other visitors are friendly and considerate. No water to wash fishing gear or boats in though which is a problem when you're traveling as far as we do. We'd like to get that stuff washed off before going home. Feels like a safe place but we did have our truck license plate stolen one weekend (could happen anywhere).

Great place to stay if you are there to go fishing or crabbing. High Ceilings, extra large rooms, cute décor, comfy beds, and the staff is great. We had a couple of small issues with our room, but they were fixed immediately. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
