My partner and I just got back from a cross country ski trip up North and we loved our stay at the Wolverine Cabin at Snowshoe Country Lodge! The log cabin was really cute and the surrounding area looked liked a winter wonderland! Byron was really friendly and had the cabin all set up for us, fire burning and water jug filled! Isabella MN was beautiful and close to so many incredible nordic ski trails. We came in January but the cabin had a nice outdoor area with fire pit and grill so would be fun to come back in the summertime. We highly recommend a stay here and appreciate that they offer affordable cabins with lots of charm!!

A group of friends and I stayed in the Glacial Esker Cabin, and it was absolutely wonderful. Earlier in the week there had been a decent snowfall that covered all the trees, creating a hidden winter wonderland. The cabin was very spacious leaving plenty of room for the seven of us. The directions from Duluth were fairly simple, and it was a lovely drive. It definitely felt like going back in time. While it's very comfortable, this is a slightly more rustic place. You have to carry in your own firewood and water from nearby, but the owner, Ron, already had the woodstove ready for us when we got there and brought us a fresh load of firewood in the morning. It was a little cool at first, but the bunk area on the second floor stayed toasty warm. On the first night, the power went out.

I visited Snowshoe Country Lodge about four winters ago and had a wonderful time. We stayed during the week, so pretty much had the place to ourselves. Ron was a great host, so hospitable and really made it a memorable trip. He even offered us a fresh Christmas Tree right off his land!! We stayed in the French Canadian cabin, which is the smallest cabin. It's perfect for couples or a solo stay. It was an extremely cold MN winter the year we stayed, but we kept plenty warm with the wood burning stove. ||Keep in mind, these cabins are more 'rustic', i.e. Heated by wood burning stoves (you bring in wood from a pile outside and fuel your fire), unheated outhouses, etc. If that's not you're thing, maybe reconsider, but it's a classic cabin experience and is really fun!||The trails on Ron's v

We were very happy with our stay at Snowshoe Country Lodge. Our cabin was exactly as described and pictured. It had everything we needed, including a VERY comfortable bed. The grounds could not be more beautiful, with so many directions to go and different ways of going there. We especially enjoyed the sauna, the quiet, and the stars! Maddy and Byron are super friendly and helpful hosts. We will most definitely be back!

We have been to Snowshoe Lodge twice now and have loved it both times. It's the perfect getaway from the noisy city life. No cars, no planes, no neighbors. Just the sounds of nature. The cabins are rustic with only electricity. Heat is a wood stove, water comes from a pump about 200 meters away and there's no indoor plumbing, only an outhouse. This may not appeal to many, but for us, it's a chance to get away and appreciate the conveniences we have in our everyday lives. Ron is a gracious host and Chester (the dog) and the cat are both friendly. We will definitely be returning in the Fall. Highly recommend.
