Sleep Inn & Suites Marshall - University Area

We had such a wonderful stay. The staff is very friendly and work very hard. When we first got there and checked in, he made sure to know that he saw other reservations with the same last name because our family is also staying here and he put us in rooms as close to each other as possible. He then also let us know that there was some complimentary soup and cookies for those checking in, so we got to have a little snack after we checked in. We also got to play and have a great time in their pool and they're very large and nice hot tub. Our kids really enjoyed the pool. Our room was very neat and very clean. Of course it had a little bit of wear and tear what hotel room doesn't. But they made sure even though we stayed only two nights to come in and make sure that they gave us extra towels

Very nice room - was clean and spacious. Thought it strange to have a complimentary soup bar in entryway?. Vs. coffee, or bottled water, or snack items or fruit. Nice little breakfast with fresh fruit and good coffee. Very polite and friendly check in person, he had to deal with my room being given to another guest, and it was quite a process to fix…it took 45 minutes to resolve, however he was very apologetic and helpful, and finally got things resolved. The workout room needs attention - one machine was really rusty and needed serviced, as it was loud and squeaking - and being in there early in the morning, I was afraid it could be disturbing to other guests. The recumbent bike too had a very loose screen, it needed service as well. Plus having a workout room, there were no sanitiz

Nice place, but the bathroom sink water, smelly like sewer when running!! Not right away, but after washing my hands it started smelling really bad. After that just used bottle water for brushing our teeth and rinsing. Thankfully the shower didn't smell!! Other then that, everything else was nice.

Great accommodations. The room had an edge of the desk peeled off, but overall the stay was much better than the local competition. My family rented three other rooms, and they were all in good condition. Breakfast was very good! Lots of options. The pool was fantastic! The water temp was warm, and the area was kept very clean. Edit: Other reviews a few months ago mention a smell. We did not notice anything like that now.

There was a strong smell of sulfur in the lobby when I checked in. My room was mostly free of the smell, but it was still present in the bathroom at a much lower level than in the lobby. In the morning, the lobby smelled much better, but my bathroom still smelled, and the apple juice at breakfast smelled and tasted like sulfur. Now, a number of hours after leaving the hotel, I realize I must have gotten some of whatever the smell was coming from on my shirt sleeve, because a certain spot on my sleeve still smells like sulfur. The room itself was very comfortable, and the breakfast had lots of options, so if the sulfur smell wasn't there, I would rate this hotel a ten out of ten. However, because of the unpleasant smell, I don't trust this hotel enough to return to it.
