Simmons Manor, Bldg 3823

The room was as clean as it could be. The shower was gross. It needs to be pretty much gutted. Needs caulking, refinished bottom, a new drain and a new shower head. The toilet is wedged into a tiny space. My thermostat was broken and the room was hot. I feel like this is a common occurrence since there is a fan in the closet. My shower was majorly backed up, which I called in and was not fixed in the three days I stayed. Stayed here because it was required via the JTR. I could stay in town for cheaper and probably much better accommodations. Please do some loding upgrades! The only thing Keesler lodging has going for them is the front desk staff has a great attitude.

Like most "Air Force" inns, this place is simply not a good place to stay. From the lousy water that makes me feel like I was never truly clean, to the cheap sheets that feel poor on your body. The thermostat is just for show as my room never got under 72 despite turning it down and asking for it to be turned down. The room was tiny and had way too much stuffed into it. The laundry room had 2 broken dryers the entire 6 weeks of my stay and made doing laundry a constant struggle. At least the staff did an acceptable job and it was close to things I had to do on base. If I had a choice, I would not stay here.

Disappointed. I've stayed at alot of lodging facilities at other Air Force bases. I am usually very happy with how nice the rooms are. I was very disappointed with this stay. We walked in and there was water all over the kitchen floor. We finally figured out that the refrigerator was unplugged and defrosting all over. I realize that probably isn't their fault. The bathroom floor was very sticky, my slippers stuck to the floor. I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and out of the corner of my eye I saw something move. I finally found it, it was a cockroach. I usually like staying on base even though the price has gone up to over $70.00 now. This time I could have found something nicer off base for cheaper.

This is nice for short stays, staff are very friendly. Only issue is that if you are staying here 2+months, it makes it hard to have quality meals. The rooms are also paper thin and I hear both my neighbors and the people above me (so many conversations in the middle of the night). You get a mini fridge and microwave which is a plus, but nothing else. DFAC is ok, but I found actually kind of pricey if you are being told to eat there 3x day. I cook in my room with what I can make do with. If you are here on the off season, look for condos off base that will match the government rates. Bottom line, works great for short stays but not for long term.

Stayed here vice the pricey resorts nearby and it was a good choice. Check-in was slow, but you can't beat $60 rooms with all the amenities. Drive way to the back of the base to check in then they'll send you off to the building you are staying in. Easy drive or taxi/Uber to casinos, restaurants, beach, and shopping.
