Scaroon Manor Campground

I came here for a mini-vacation to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday in early September. We stayed here for 2 nights at site #60 and we had an absolutely amazing experience. The staff were some of the most polite I've met, the landscape is stunning, and the sites were very well maintained. The town this campground is set in is one of the most beautiful examples of quaint small town America I've seen. It's one of those places where everyone knows each other's name and everyone is super friendly. I loved going in to the small "main street" area and going to all the small businesses along the street. We really enjoyed this camp ground. At first I was a bit worried with the openness that I would not like it but we stayed on a good note which had lots of privacy. The entire campground is really clean and nice to walk through. We did not even put on bug spray because they where non-existent. The beach here is a bit small for a lake so big but overall it's a great campground. You can purchase wood right outside the gates for 5 dollars a bundle. There is also a cool old ampitheater that you can explore. Def would recommend and I will be going back

Very busy during the peak season as it is a lovely NYS campground on Schroon Lake. I like to go in the off season, park outside the gate & enjoy the grounds which include the beach & the old ruins of the amphitheater

This is an unusual State campground in the Adirondacks because of its spacious open grassy areas. Most Adirondack campgrounds operated by the State have no grass cover and are heavily treed with dead leaves and pine needles only. This is a relatively new campground and was the site of a former upscale resort hotel with a rich history. The aforementioned grassy areas were the resort’s golf course. The beach is tiny but adequate. If you desire shade and trees, choose sites in the Amphitheater Loop. Be prepared for mortal combat with black flies and gnats.The hamlet of Schroon Lake is a ten minute drive and has everything you will need for provisions as well as dining.

We didn't camp here so we can't comment on that part. We just came to explore the old amphitheater. It was fun to explore it and imagine what it must have been like in its glory. It's sad to see it in such disrepair now. We're thankful for being able to go in and see it and for the information signs. The lake is beautiful as well as view. The whole place appears to be very enjoyable.
