The San Raphael Valley is a beautiful place you can drive or bike through, but the state-owned San Rafael State Natural Area is not open to the public, so there is nowhere to get off the road to hike or walk around.
Amazing special place for birding in grasslands
This type of grassland used to extend further across Arizona and New Mexico. Overgrazing of cattle brought down the grass and allowed tougher thorn bushes to take over. Some of the best grasslands that are preserved in Southern Arizona are private ranchos the owners took care of.
Almost don’t want to post - this is a special place
This is one of the most beautiful valleys I've been in and love to spend time here. It's so peaceful.
